About
The Horse
The Horse of
Delaware Valley is the oldest and largest equine publication
serving the mid-Atlantic states of Pennsylvania, Maryland,
New Jersey, Delaware and Virginia.
From its base
in Unionville, Pa., The Horse distributes 24,000 copies
per month, over 19,000 by direct mail and the balance through
tack shops, feed stores and other outlets in the five state
market.
In all, The Horse
reaches more than 50,000 readers monthly and professional
research shows it is preferred by its readers to all other
publications that circulate or originate in the market including
such prestigious national titles as Equus, The Practical
Horseman and The Chronicle of The Horse.
In fact, circulation
of The Horse is almost twice that of any other publication
in the market.
According to
a survey by KPC Research Inc. of Charlotte, NC, a nationally
respected newspaper research firm, 81% of Horse readers
look closely at each issue and more than 90 % read half
or more of each issue. 84% look at display ads and 82% look
at the classifieds.
KPC, who surveyed
400 Horse readers in April 1997, found that 60% to 80% of
the readers would find The Horse helpful in making a wide
variety of major purchases during a typical year. Planned
purchases include such things as tack, equipment, horses,
fencing, barn repair and farm-related real estate. Readers
also said that they found The Horse helpful in choosing
camps and/or colleges that offer riding programs.
